What Temple Do Submissions for nFS Go To?

If a member moves into a temple district and still has their previous address listed on their nFS profile where do temple submission go? Are they directed to the temple district that the individual moved from? IE; the temple district that's still indicated by their previous address?

Hi Techgy,

Are you referring to temple ordinances that you want assigned to a temple, as opposed to a family member doing it?

If so, my understanding is that each temple "sweeps" the database periodically. So the work that you have assigned to the temple will go to whichever temple next "sweeps" the database.

Hope that helps.

I'm referring to family-member assignments.

Here in Provo I see a lot of cards from people from outside the area. Typically they will be left off at the temple's family file desk, and they will stamp it so that workers will return the card to the office, for return to the member, after the work is done.

The office will have the correct address for the member, many cards I see will be from BYU students, as the addresses will not even be in the state some of the time.

As for names that the member leaves off via nFS, I've seen entries where every last ordinance was done in a different temple.

But members farming out the names will often tell the people doing the work where the card should be sent back to if they are moving. However, some of this is done by family members anyway, so where family members are directly involved it is not a problem,, it's the other two where things can get a shade confusing until you know how it works.

The question isn't with the cards. Once the ordinance cards are printed they can be taken to almost any temple to have the work done.

My question was in reference to the electronic submission to the temple.
Using the nFS system a member submits an electronic ordinance request for work that they wish to do themselves. I was curious as to whether or not the submittal goes to the temple where the member resides.

As I understand it, the submission doesn't go to any particular temple. Rather, you reserve the ordinances in nFS independent of any temple. Then you print an FOR and take it to whatever temple you want. That temple issues the cards, and then as you noted, you can take the cards to any temple.

Thanks Alan. This is what I expected, but wasn't sure.
We have a new member of our ward who recently moved in from out the area. She'd forgotten to change her address in her profile when she had printed a FOR. She'd inquired as to whether she needed to withdraw the request, change her address and then resubmit it. It sounds like it really doesn't matter.

That was exactly what I see all the time here in Provo. In every case it is either someone moving into the area for school or whatever.

Usually though, the member's address is updated via MLS, The city changed my physical address even though I didn't change apartments or even buildings. I gave it to the clerk the next day, and the next time I printed an FOR the address shown was the new address, I didn't even enter it in via the nFS profile update screens. but it was in nFS.

I hadn't checked the nFS profile screen that closely, but you're right!
Must be another senior moment  There's actually no way to change the address in the nFS profile, so the update must be coming from the MLS.

The member that I'm referring to moved into our ward a couple of weeks ago, but her records weren't in the ward until this past week. I believe what happened is that her address wasn't updated until the records were actually moved and prior to that she had printed an FOR and noticed her address was incorrect. I guess we all should have been a little more patient and waited for the records to appear:rolleyes:

Yes, that's what we were told.
where do temple submission go?
All submissions go to SLCT (or HQ) and then when one prints a FOR, the Temple concerned, whichever one it is, checks the bar code against that central database in HQ. So it doesn't matter what address is on the nFS or MLS, nor what Temple one presents a FOR as long as that bar code is correct and not a fake.

(Also we are told that the SLCT distributes all submissions to the various Temples around the world on a per needs basis for the 'Temple to do' submissions)
