Correcting Errors

#1

Post by rebern »

My great grandfather name is not complete it only shows his LAST name. I would like to do his work but I would like to have his full name on the card and when the ordinance are performed. The only way the church could have received his information is from a family group sheet that I turned in years ago. The group sheet was complete and showed his first and last name. Something happened when it was migrrated into the new website.

How can I get his name corrected to that I can print out the information for temple work with his complete name?

I'm sure there's probably a method to get things straighted out so the missing information is restored - but why bother? Simply add the missing information to what's in nFS now. Then click the button to do his work.
Have you searched the Help Center? Try doing a Google search and adding "site:churchofjesuschrist.org/help" to the search criteria.

If you go into his record in newFamilySearch (nFS) you can go to the summary view and select the drop down menu next to his name. If the full name is listed there select it and it will display his full name in all of the other views. If his full name is not listed there, go to the details view and select Edit next to the name and select Add another Opinion and enter his full name. Then go back to the summary view and select his full name. When you print the card his full name should then be on the card. If you have already had the cards printed and they only contain his last name, making the correction in nFS will correct it on the Temple Records, you can try having the cards reprinted or hand write the first name on the card, check with the family file desk at the Temple and they can help you.
