Gentlemen,

I am currently putting a plan in place to run an Ethernet cable, from our attic (dmarc) where the DSL Router, and Firewall are located - to our Media Center Satellite box. I would like to prepare for a future purchase of the Sony camera as well and wire up all needed cables for that system. What type of cabling should I be pre-wiring for the purchase?

Cat 5/6 to control it and either cat 5/6 or RG6 coax for video.

Our last Stake Conference was done with dual EVID70 Sony Cameras linked with these cables we bought from ebay and the routed through CAT5 cabling in the building.

This one was installed by my predecessor as STS:

All of these components come from Vaddio (http://www.vaddio.com)

1) We add a shoe to the Sony EVI-D70 camera that brings the video and control out as RJ45 connections. This allows us to run a pair of Cat5 cables from the camera to our control room (Library).

2) In the control room, the Cat 5 cable carrying the video is fed into a small connect box that outputs either S-Video or composite video.

3) The Cat 5 cable for the control signals as well as the video signal are connected into a controller/mixer with a joystick that allows us to pan/zoom the camera remotely as well as see what the camera sees. This controller supports up to 6 cameras. You can define several presets for each camera so that it's easy to move from, for example, pulpit view to choir view.

It's worked well for us for a couple of years.

Your setup is exactly what we are looking for in our Stake to improve our Stake Conference broadcasts (except we are looking to use 3 cameras). How did you purchase the products from vaddio? It seems that they only sell to dealers. How and where are your cameras mounted?

Thank you for your help.
