The church pushed out a Web Content Filtering Upgrade on all of our cisco hardware. The WCF (Web Content Filter), which blocks inappropriate internet material, was set on a schedule to roll-out to all equipment starting may 1st up through may 8th.
The new filter was not perfect as we have come to see that certain sites were/are blocked that werent before. This is something the Filtering team is working on correcting as we see necessary. as far as if Youtube will stay blocked, I do not know. I do know however that Youtube.com IS blocked on BYU campus, if its blocked for BYU students, it'll probably remain blocked for churches as well.

That update did not include Meetinghouses, so the blocking/unblocking issue is totally different.
As for YouTube being blocked, it depends if you are on "LDS Restricted", "LDS Extended" or "LDS General". For restricted, it should not be a surprise that it is blocked. For the others, it is generally allowed. For BYU wards that are using BYU facilities, I don't know what is being used.
Keep in mind that it is up to the Stake President to choose an appropriate policy for what he wants the Internet to be used for in those buildings for which he has stewardship.

If you are paying for and using the BlueCoat K9 filter, CES is probably controlling the filter. I believe that is an option for paying customers.
The filter for the free version is controlled at the individual computer, but I believe the free version is only available to individuals, and not to non-profit organizations.
The Global Support Desk should support the CES connections if Church equipment is being used, unless the area presidency of the country where you reside has made other arrangements.

I sure hope it's still the parent of K9, the Blue Coat Web Filter, that is still being used. It is by far the absolute best solution in regards to filtering in order to block, so as not to see sites that have porn, gambling, and even spyware.
I looked at my stats, and found that whatever the Church may have paid for that, it'sit's worth the price paid to have it, because I found it had blocked four porn sites and I had not realized that I had run across those but thanks to the filter I never saw anything anyway. My K9 install also blocked 1180 spyware spreader sites too. I have good reason to believe that any other content filtering solution, and there are several very good ones out there, is still going to come up a little short in comparison.

Thanks, half my post should probably have gone there to the other subforum, since it seems to apply more there than in this thread, but it shows what filtering, regardless of what software it is, should be able to do for the enterprise although my experience regards a personal use/home version of the enterprise-grade product.
On the blocking issue, I did experience a problem trying to get to a Yahoo Group that had been set up by some users and product managers were monitoring it over at FamilySearch, and checked to see if it was available from my location so I would not have to access my personal mail (had to do with a specific product) and get the thing up right away if it had become necessary to inquire via the group about the problem we were expericncing. It appears the problem with the specific Yahoo Groups page happened about the same time or just before the upgrade.
I haven't had need to do anything since that possibility came up, so I don't know if the problem with that page was resolved or not.
