One of the buildings in our stake is showing two firewalls. I've attached a screen shot. How do we go about getting the inactive one removed. The FM group knows nothing about this.

Thank you.

I call Global Support. The networking department should be able to clean that up.

The Global Service Center (GSC) have Technology Manager (TM) controls to "Deactivate" or "Reassign" firewalls. If a firewall is moved to a different building, it should be "reassigned. If the firewall is being permanently removed then it should be deactivated, which does three things: 1) the deactivated firewall serial number is disassociated with the property number in TM, 2) the firewall configuration is set to the base (pre-activation) configuration (provided it is connected to the network at the time), and 3) any IP address associated with the deactivated firewall are released (to be later used for activating other firewalls).

If a firewall will be taken out of service, or the firewall is being moved to different building, it is important for the Facilities Manager or Stake Technology Specialist to contact the GSC to have the firewall deactivated or reassigned. Doing so will clean up the TM database, potentially free up IP addresses, and make firewall available to be managed (if the firewall is reassigned the a new location).
