Different opinions are expressed about when meetinghouse wireless should be disabled. But the authority to do so rests with the Stake/District president. The STS must be sure to implement the feature according direction of the meetinghouse Stake/District president.

Will this feature be added for Assistant STS callings? In our stake we have a STS that is over computers, etc but also a Stake AV director who is also an assistant STS. When it comes time to stream conference it is the responsibility of the AV Director, not the STS to disable wireless and manage the streaming, etc.

Given the strict charge to use it only under the direction of the stake president, I'm hoping the don't hand out rights too far. Unless you're trying to provide WiFi right up until the start, I don't see it as a problem for the STS to turn off WiFi well in advance.

The use of the enable/disable wireless feature is intended to be restricted, to be used carefully under the direction of the building's Stake/District President. The following Church callings currently have access to this feature:
  • Stake/District Assistant Clerk--Technology Specialist
  • Stake/District/Branch presidency (president, 1st & 2nd counselor)
  • Bishopric (bishop, 1st & 2nd counselor)
  • Stake/District Clerk
Certain technical roles also have access to the feature:
  • Facilities Manager
  • FM Assistant Facilities Manager
  • Certain GSC/ICS technical support roles
At this time there no plan to allow the Assistant STS to use the feature. In most cases the Stake/District Technology Specialist should coordinate the use of this feature. If the STS is not available, one of the other listed positions can implement the enable/disable wireless feature.

Also as a reminder. Once wireless access is disabled the wireless LDSaccess SSID will not be available in the building, but the building's wired network will be available. Leaders must remember to re-enable wireless access following a meeting through Technology Manager by using a device connected to either the building's wired network, or connected through a different Internet service.

Any ideas on why I can´t see the turn on/turn off wireless in tech manager under Access Points for our C881W? I must be missing something here.... This pc is a family history machine , in case that means anything. In an STS by the way and have had normal access for about 4 months now.

copy/paste here:

That appears to be the wireless built into the firewall itself. I think they have a mind of their own.

You should be able to turn it off because I have buildings that have the WiFi in the router and I can disable it. Not sure why you can't see the buttons unless the java isn't installed or something else isn't installed or should I say the plug-in to the browser.

I don't know about quickly. You could try a simple power cycle reboot to see if it decides to respond to your command. Otherwise, I'd arrange with GSC well ahead of time - perhaps days.

What exactly is happening? Is the unit just ignoring your command, or are you unable to issue the command?
