I know I have seen a Church wide Internet Use policy. Is it somewhere online so I could get a copy?

It is part of the Desktop 5.5 Instructions, which can be located at mls.lds.org, under Local Unit Computer Instructions. A login is required, which your Stake Technology Specialist should know.

I'm not familiar with any other online location. A printed copy should also have been delivered with the Desktop 5.5 instructions when your stake converted (probably in the first part of 2007).

About halfway down on THIS website is a link to a Meetinghouse Internet Guidelines webpage. There, you will find a link to a PDF file of the same title: "Meetinghouse Internet Guidelines". Could this be what you remember seeing?

The shortcut http://clerk.lds.org was designed to get you quickly to this information, without having to drill down as much from the lds.org website. It all leads to the same place.

I'm pretty sure Alan_Brown's reference was what terrellthomas had seen. Your reference, Mikerowaved, is for the new meeting house broadband connections and is a guideline while the section in the Desktop 5.5 instructions is a policy. As you look at them both you can see the differences.

I'm sure I've seen an older policy that was aimed at FHC computer users, but I don't know if that's what he's looking for or not.

That policy document is available on-line only to family history center directors through their account at www.familysearch.org/eng/library/fhcdirector. That account requires a user name and password that only the FHC Director has.

Each FHC should have a copy of that policy in their FHC guidebook.

Ah, that's where it is. The user name/paasword is the standard FamilySearch login, but the name must be set up for access to that area. My director was nice enough to do that for me.

So, Russell, since you have access to both places, could you take a look at the FHC Internet Use policy and see if it matches the one in the Desktop 5.5 Instructions on mls.lds.org? I'm mighty curious....

I don't think this is supposed to be kept hidden anywhere, especially since patrons are supposed to follow it, so I'll attach a copy.

I am not certain what you are saying. To access the URL that I gave, the sign-in user name and password must be identified as a family history center director or assistant director. Are you saying that your FHC Director submitted your name as an assistant director? Or are you say that the FHC Director can identify individuals to have access to the FHC Director library?
