WiFi down again

#1

Post by aclawson »

The WiFi just started to drop people from the network in the middle of class again. And once again our only troubleshooting options are to reboot the access points which is guaranteed to kick EVERYBODY off, which disrupts everybody. (I tried to log onto the network but am stuck in an infinite recycle of authorizing/receiving IP/connecting/authorizing...)

Since it is unlikely that we are going to be given the budget to hardwire every single classroom the wireless system and the support needs to be fixed. And quickly. It just does not work to not provide support during the primary time of use (Sundays) and prohibit people from solving the problems locally.

I just checked. Central Missouri (my Stake) is up, on all units. Perhaps it is a localized outage?
I understand your frustration!

It may very well be a local problem - I just don't have a very good way of checking without disrupting everybody. It would be nice if I could talk to somebody at the GSD, but I have to wait until it is Monday in Tokyo/Australia time before anybody starts answering the phone there.

Their recording says to press zero if there is an outage, but that just takes you to the switchboard operator who transfers you to LUS that has a recording telling you that they're closed.

The WiFi is down again here also. Fullerton California Stake.
However, we're in the middle of Sunday School Family History classes and also have clerks working, so a reboot is not an option.

From an Email I received last week I was hopeful that the issue had been resolved, but it would appear that's not the case.

I'm having this problem as well for the second week in a row in both of my buildings. Well, can't connect at all, let alone being dropped in the middle.

I've already had the number of connections bumped up (months ago), but I'm guessing the available slots are all being taken. The Internet connection is fine as the wired still works. The wifi signal is there and strong. Just wont allow connections.

I hadn't realized that support was closed till calling in just now. When did that change? Calling at another time when the network isn't saturated wont help. I don't know if it is a saturation problem or something else. Since I'm not allowed access to see that info I am trying to call those that can see it. Guess not.

What do I tell my stake? I know I'm your tech specialist but there is nothing I can do. Nothing I can look at. No one I can call.

Very frustrating

In my case this is not the issue - I manually configured my WiFi connection to use a static IP (you can check your firewall status page to get the ranges of statics available) and had the exact same issues proving that it is not a DHCP pool issue.

Years ago.

That is exactly what you tell your stake. The issue is within the network operations center in SLC, we have to wait for them to resolve the issue, and their support desk does not work on Sunday.

Odd. I know I have called in and talked with someone a few times this past year on Sunday.

Go to a computer that is working (if any) and download a free program called angryIP and scan your network, it will show you a lot.

Firewall won't let me download it - it won't give me a reason why, just "session timeout" with a URL of http://216.49.178.206:15871/cgi-bin/blo ... on=<number>
