Church Systems Down evening of Oct 29th

#1

Post by aebrown »

All ward and stake clerks just received an MLS message as follows:
In order to improve some of the data systems at Church Headquarters, the ability to transmit any data or use online applications will be down from 8:00 p.m. Friday, 29 Oct MST to 6:00 a.m. Saturday, 30 Oct 2010, MST. During this down time applications (CDOL, LDS Maps, MLS transmissions and lds.org) will not be available. All applications should be back up and fully operational by 6:00 a.m. on Saturday, 30 Oct 2010, MST.

We are sorry for any inconvenience this may cause.

They picked a pretty good time -- hopefully people will be out on dates on a Friday night instead of doing Church work :). And it's only a 10 hour outage, so the impact should be minimal.
Questions that can benefit the larger community should be asked in a public forum, not a private message.

Alan,

What method was used to get this message out? MLS message system or?
I have a clerk who didn't get the message and when I passed it around he'd never heard about it, so I'm wondering how it was distributed.
Have you read the Code of Conduct?

He said MLS message, although we did not receive any MLS message to this effect. Perhaps it will show up sometime this weekend.

I received the MLS message at the ward that same day he first posted.

Sorry. I guess I should learn to read. I AM a little curious as to why everyone didn't receive this message though. I'll check again this weekend.

It should be there for everyone in the U.S., Australia, Brazil and Canada now. It was trickled out earlier this week, but everyone should get it now.

Most of our wards got it Sunday. The rest had it by last night (Tuesday). The stake never got it, but that is probably because the message predated our MLS activation.
