Annual Church Materials Order

#1

Post by nbllds-p40 »

In looking for instructions on what to order for the 2011 curriculum, all I could find was the form for 2010 materials. On the form, it states that orders should be placed by Sep. 15, 2009. I'm guessing that there would be a similar date for curriculum orders this year (e.g. Sep. 15, 2010), but I can't seem to find anything with those types of directions. It seems like if it were to be placed by next month, some guidelines should already be out there so we can make the order on time.

Seems like this should be pretty simple, but I'm not having much luck. Any wisdom anyone can impart would be appreciated!

Normally, the bishop and stake president will get a letter announcing that it is time to start completing the annual order. We have not seen that letter yet this year, so maybe the schedule is slipping a little bit.

I'm going to suggest that you request an account from the distribution center. They will mail a password to your bishop or stake president. Your account ID will be your 7-digit unit number. It's much easier than trying to mail the thing in. I usually download the order form and send it out to all of the auxiliaries, etc (I'm the stake clerk). To the stake auxiliaries, I instruct them to reply to me with the catalog numbers of the items they wish and the numbers. To the wards, I tell the ward clerks to do the same thing.

The September 15 date is more of a suggestion -- that I adhere to, but I've had a number of units in my stake that have delayed in the past. The distribution center still gets their stuff to them -- even if they place the order in November.

Its a big packet that is sent to the bishop, with specific copies for all organizations telling them exactly what to order, with order numbers on the order forms, etc. And if you miss it (which is hard to do,) in 2010 they had similar copies in PDF that could be downloaded from the distribution center, and they had a special section just for curriculum orders. It's really hard to miss all this fanfare. None of this has appeared yet in the mail or on the distribution center site, so we just wait.

Annual Church Materials Order

It's 10/1 and no new order form yet. Also, it took a while to find the Sept. 2009 form in Distribution Center lists, and now I can't find it again.

My recollection is that in the U.S. we get a letter indicating the form is available, but no ordering packet. Please note that I'm known to be wrong at least on occasion. In any case, when I'm reminded that it's time to order curriculum supplies I'll download and print the annual materials PDF, then hand relevant pages to priesthood and auxiliary leaders to use in deciding what they need.

We use the form as a worksheet, and it's possible that the 09 form would be sufficient to develop our shopping list.

As a general suggestion related to annual materials orders:

We used to have a problem with Organizations ordering whatever they thought they needed without checking the Materials Center first (in some cases we had dozens of extra manuals and they were trying to order more). It takes a little work, but I ask my Librarians to list the quantities already in the Library to the side of the order form - then I give copies of that "modified" list to the organizations. The first year I did that, our order was half the year before and we have better usage of our Materials Center because they realize they can always check there first before ordering.

Using links mentioned before to find the PDF curriculum ordering form (found in store.lds.com/administrative materials/stake/ward/2011 Annual curriculum link) it makes the following reference:
Use this form with Instructions for Curriculum 2011 (08630) to develop your unit’s annual curriculum order. To order other items, go to
store.lds.org.
Anyone seen this document?-is it online? Did my bishop get it and not show it to me?

I think I've seen this on paper, but I can't find it online. It would be similar to the 2010 Instructions for Curriculum, but obviously you need the 2011 version (although the vast majority of the 2010 version would be the same).
Questions that can benefit the larger community should be asked in a public forum, not a private message.
