Removing age on church records.

#1

Post by brofisher »

We have a sister that is requesting that her age be removed from the church records. (Not shown for everyone to see).
Is there a way to remove the age for just her and have all other info remain?
Is this something she can do on her own through LDS Tools?

If there is a place that i can be referred to that outlines this and that i could read the procedure that would be helpful.

Thanks for any feedback

No, there's no way to do that.

You can let her know that it isn't shown for all to see, just for the ward leaders and herself.

We have already had the discussion that it is only seen by ward leaders and she states that she still feels "violated" and if it isn't taken off then she wants all the info taken off.

Is there a way of taking off the birth date itself and thus the age would no longer show?

Again thanks so much for sharing your knowledge.

I could be wrong, but I think the only way to take all the information off for all (leaders included) is to have her membership record cancelled. She can make her record "Private - leadership only" but that will still not hide her information from ward and stake leaders.

The church is serious about private member data, unfortunately many of the members are not. She may have had a bad experience where someone did not properly safeguard private information and that is unfortunate, but that is an individual human error. We all make them.
