A "notes" field is what is important

#31

The point isn't how ignorant I am about the Cub Scouts program.
I just picked it as an example.

The point is that by using standardized calling names we trade
off necessary details, so we can get the benefits of transfers
to the Stake, access to callings-based websites, and a
centralized database of callings at church HQ by
"Big Brother" (although not like the scary government "Big Brother",
more like the way you would say, "Good afternoon, Brother Welch.")

The "notes" field would be so details could be maintained in MLS with
the calling to avoid confusion and the temptation to use more descriptive
custom callings.

For example, in our ward we have an Assistant Ward Clerk that handles just
the website and the annual history. Currently he has the custom calling
"Asst Ward Clerk-History/Website". To get him to populate on the Stake
list of callings he would need the standard "Asst. Ward Clerk".

A "notes" field could let us have the detail needed for leadership to work with callings,
but still give us the benefits Calling Standardization provides.

Cub Scout Callings

#32

Post by crisa »

Maybe the Notes field could be similar to the class field in Primary and Sunday School.

For the example that was used for Cub Scouts, classes can be created in Primary (which is where the Cub Scouts callings are) without taking the children out of their Primary classes and then the respective class could be selected from the drop down under the Den Leader.

In regards to the duplication, I added callings to members from the members without callings list and when I went into the Callings by Organization it had duplicated that calling 5 times over. Is this a known bug?
