Frustrations with store.lds.org

#1

Post by HansG »

I don't have a specific question that I think can get answered here, just looking for a collective shoulder to cry on a little. . .our bishopric was recently reorganized and I ended up with my second favorite calling: assistant ward clerk. My first task was to print out labels for the new bishop to place over the name/address of the old bishop on the donation and other envelopes. Second task: signature card. Third task: order new donation and No 10 envelopes (plain and windowed). This is where it got painful, or at least annoying:
1. The address for the new bishop had a "US-" in front of the state abbreviation. I didn't want this showing up on thousands of envelopes, aggravating the USPS and potentially delaying or stopping mail, so I emailed OIservices@ldschurch.org as the instructions said to do for a missing or incomplete address. They replied back that the address was correct in their system and there was nothing further they could do to be helpful.
2. I forwarded their response to store.lds.org. The responder demonstrated a lack of comprehension of the issue and gave me a phone number to call for resolution if I was still having issues.
3. I called the number. They declined to talk to me because my name did not show up under my unit in CDOL.
4. So I tried emailing them back. They replied that they were sure everything would go smoothly with my order, and if it was wrong I could send it back. At this point I decided to take a chance that the address would indeed show up correctly on the stationary even if it didn't display correctly on the website so I would go ahead and order.
5. I added the three types of envelopes to my cart, worked my way through a few order finalization pages, and clicked submit. I got a message that an error had occurred and I could try using my back button, refresh button, or return to the store.lds.org homepage.

There's a funny story about a man arriving in town and asking the town drunk on the corner for directions to the city library. The town drunk starts the directions several times and finally just tells the man, "well, you just can't get there from here." I think that's me with these dang evnelopes.

.....
At checkout you must enter an email address (or some random text) in the box provided. If not then it will fail without giving any indication of what's wrong.

Donation envelopes and slips

#3

Post by drepouille »

Well this is really weird. When our bishop changed in November, I ordered donation envelopes, windowed envelopes, and non-windowed envelopes. Since we have very few members who donate cash or checks, we still have plenty of donation envelopes and slips after five months. But I just received a new shipment of donation envelopes and slips this week. The box is marked with exactly the same order number and piece ID as the box we received five months ago. Our distribution system seems to have a lot of glitches, especially when it comes to stationary, envelopes, etc.

No, we did not receive a second IROP, and we were not charged for the duplicate shipment.
