Recognizing new member records in ward...
Given the new environment of technology with the web based interface, it seems to me that records can basically appear in our ward almost without notice. If the member does not attend church for some reason, we may not notice the new member. Unlike before when we had to receive the record and choose print or not print the information.
My question is, is there a way to "see" or notice new records? A report of members sorted by incoming date would be interesting and I believe useful for a new bishopric or a new clerk. Does anything like this exist?
Are there other ways to notice a new record in the ward?

There are reports in LCR that show both Members Moved In and Members Moved Out.

Yes. In LCR, choose Reports > Members Moved In. By default, the report is sorted by date with the most recent records first.cboshdave wrote:A report of members sorted by incoming date would be interesting and I believe useful for a new bishopric or a new clerk. Does anything like this exist?

I found that even in the old days, a bishopric member, a financial clerk could do the send/receive and we didn't always catch this. I've trained and taught clerks for over a decade to use that report rather than catching them as they came in.

I agree. I have trained my new finance clerk to cancel the printing of all membership records as they come in. I usually print the Members Moved In report each week for the PEC and ward council meetings.

Unless something has changed, printing the record is one of the few places you'll discover if someone has an annotation on their record. Typically annotations indicate that someone may be a danger to other members, such as a record of being a predator. If you're not printing the records, I'd suggest the ward clerk (I'm not sure if the assistants can see this) does some kind of test to see if anyone new has an annotation on their record.drepouille wrote:I agree. Failure to check could place someone in danger.

I think the Confidential Member Information Report provides that information.

The bishop and ward clerk have access to the Confidential Member Information Report, which provides that information. There is also a flag that is visible to the bishop when he views a record that indicates he should check for confidential events along with some other less-frequent items (move restrictions, etc.).russellhltn wrote:If you're not printing the records, I'd suggest the ward clerk (I'm not sure if the assistants can see this) does some kind of test to see if anyone new has an annotation on their record.
