Move Restrictions/Requests to Contact Bishop

#1

Post by hrwilliams94 »

How can the current Bishop place a request to be contacted by the new Bishop if a member moves out of their ward without putting a move restriction on the member's records? Is that possible, or is the only option available the move restriction?

I haven't done a move out for quite a while but I believe you can request that the next bishop contact the current bishop when moving a record out. But there is no way to ask the next bishop to make contact if the new ward requests the record instead. So either you move the record out yourself or you put a move restriction and wait for them to contact you after they try to move the record.

I believe that the move out report indicates where the record went, so I think a third option is to do nothing until the record is moved and then use that information along with the CDOL to initiate contact with the new bishop. The problem there is you'd have to keep watch - there's no reminders, so it would be easy to forget to follow-up.
