Can a Wards members pay for Girls camp through the online tithing payment system? Members of our ward would like to know if they can put "Girls Camp" in the "Other" category. Can we do this?

From the FAQs:

Q10. Consistent with Church policy, our ward may have a fund-raising activity to raise money for youth activities such as Young Women or Scout camp. Can this money be donated online?

A10. No, contributions made for fund-raising activities are not considered donations but are considered a payment for goods or services and cannot be completed online. They are similar to paying for the cost of craft projects that are part of a Relief Society activity. They must be done through your local ward or branch.

I realize this topic is old and there is a difinitve answer supported by the online form. However, if there is a way to press this issue to be revisited by the finance department of the church I would love to know how to help influence a change here. In a day when fewer people carry cash and checks and so many transactions are digital, this seems like a prime policy to change that would easily be accommodated by a simple programming change. Another box "Other-non contribution" requiring a note seems to be a good start in addition to training and ability for clerks to transfer those funds to the appropriate accounts in their own financial 'chart of accounts' would allow for this function.

You can use the feedback link on the main LDS.org pages, or ask your priesthood leadership to take up the issue with their presiding authority.

It is rather strange that members cannot select an Other:AMFA subcategory for an online donation, but a clerk can use Adjust Donation to reallocate a donation amount to an Other:AMFA subcategory. It wouldn't be appropriate to do so, so why is it possible?
