Change Head of Household

#1

Post by goldrr »

I have a young couple that somehow has the Wife as head of household (HOH). How can I change that.

Do I remove the household, and then re-add them with the husband as the HOH.

I've looked in MLS, LDS.org and searched and can't find the correct answer

First check to make sure that the marriage was recorded correctly such that they both have a link to the other's record. To do that go to each record in LCR (using the lookup box or the Member List), select the Family tab and then make sure that the spouse is not listed as a non-member and that the spouse is a link that (when followed) leads to the spouse's record.

If the marriage isn't recorded, shows a spouse as a non-member or doesn't correctly link to the spouse then that needs to be fixed first. If the marriage is recorded but doesn't link correctly then you'll probably need to contact Local Unit Support to get it corrected. I don't think you can correct it yourself without first terminating the current marriage which seems like the wrong course of action.

If the marriage is correct then I would split the household (in LCR on the Household tab) and then put it back together. That should force the system to correctly set the head of household.
