Send a message

We've had some questions arise about sending messages to ward members. Is there a way for someone to opt out of receiving emails when we use the "Send a Message" application? We don't want to delete the member's email from records, but we are not sure if there is another way to do this.

Not really. Depending on the tool used, the sender might have the ability to remove the email before sending. But that's not easy to do consistently.

When sending a message you can select an group (such as All Members) and then either click who you want one-by-one, or click Select All, and then un-click those who you don't want the message go to. It's a pain, but there's not a permanent opt-out that I can see.

Right now, this is your only option.

There is not currently a way to add attachments.

There isn't a need to send feedback on either of these. We're aware of both issues.

Is there any way to mass message Elders of a quorum or any such list? This would make gathering home teaching numbers much much easier.

You can use the Directory on LDS.org: Ward Organizations > Elders, then use the "Email all Elders" link at the top of the list of elders on the right side.

When the Relief Society Secretary tries to "Email all Relief Society", her email goes to some of the husbands instead of the sisters, even when the sisters have a personal email address identified in their record. Why is this, and what do we need to do to ensure that the RS emails get sent only to the sisters and not their husbands?

Out of curiosity, what is the privacy setting for the individual sister's email? There might be a pattern.

There doesn't appear to be a pattern. Some are set at Ward, others are set at Stake Visivility.
