How to add nonmember children to father's record?

The father's nonmember spouse does not show up on his record either, but she is on our ward directory. How is that done?

In MLS, edit the father's membership record and go to the Children tab. There you can add children. Note that this process is purely genealogical information -- the children may be nonmembers, and could even be deceased. It will not create membership records of any kind (from your request, it sounds like this is all that is needed).

That's the standard behavior for nonmember spouses. If they are listed on the membership record of the member, they appear in the Directory. In many cases that is desirable. But if the nonmember spouse does not want to be listed, you can call the Global Service Center and request that the nonmember spouse's listing be suppressed from the Directory.

So you're saying that the member doesn't show the non-member spouse, yet the non-member appears in the directory?

That doesn't compute. Either the "non-member spouse" is really a member, a child has a name that is confusingly similar to the spouse (so it's not really the spouse that's in the directory), or the non-member spouse IS recorded on the member's record.
