My Bishop asked me if there is a compiled list of all possible callings within a ward. I have googled Ward Calling Lists, Ward Org Chart, etc.. but to no avail.

If any knows of or has such I list I would love to get a copy.

Thank you in advance,

I would start with those listed in the Church Handbook of Instructions. Those are the callings the Church has determined are necessary for the ideal ward - whatever that may be. Most of those that are listed there are available in MLS by selecting 'Organizations>Reports>Callings by Organizations'. And then in each organiztion you can select 'Add Position' and then next to the 'Position' text box click the 'Select' button to bring up a list of standard callings for that organization.

While this does not give you a list of all callings in one easy to view location you can see what callings the Church finds necessary for the ideal ward.

To list all possible callings cannot be done because each local leader has the authority to determine the callings necessary within the umbrella of their stewardship and as prompted by the Holy Spirit.

Bret,

I have attached a Word doc with a list of callings in a BYU singles ward I was in 4 years ago. Each section of callings has a reference to the appropriate section from CHI Books 1 and 2. No personal information is in this document as far as I'm aware. It may be of some help. Since it was for a singles ward, it did not include High Priests', YW/YM, Primary, Scouting, etc... I echo JD's suggestions as well.

I just went through the organizations in MLS and extracted the standard callings listed there and put them into a single list. It is attached

EDIT: The outdated attachment has been deleted. See post #11 for a more current list.

Just wanted to send out a thanks to all that replied to my request. Especially those that attached a compiled list, many hands make light work. I am indebted.

With gratitude,

Bret

Thank you!

As a relatively new branch president - thank you! We have some investigators in our branch, and while we want to give assignments/callings - the call needs to be suitable. So many times in small branches new converts are burned out - too much too soon. Thank you once again!

Yours in the Gospel,

Shawn A

For those reading this thread for the first time, please note that this thread is nearly ten months old as of this post. The standardized callings list in MLS has change slightly from the one that existed in November 2008. The procedure to get the callings list I described in post #2 is still valid. Only now since MLS version 3.0 there is a quicker way to get the standard callings list, or as MLS calls it, the standard positions list. Before this method is available a non-standard position must exist. For most units it is very likely that a non-standard position already exists without having to create one.

The procedure is:
  1. Select Organizations > Reports/Tools > Custom Positions Review
  2. Click any "Find nearest match" link for any custom position on the list
  3. When the "Standard Positions List (Nearest Match)" appears click the "Show All" button in the lower left of the dialog box.
  4. Select any position on the list and select Control+Shift+C on the keyboard to copy the list to the clipboard.
  5. Past the list into any spreadsheet or word processing program for further manipulation. I prefer a spreadsheet for an easier manipulation of columns and position sorting.

I just did a cursory check of that list against the standard positions list in MLS 3.0.2 and that list has changed.
