Nowadays, as long as it's a valid address, you're probably only helping the computer.
I've been on the receiving end of "helpful" clerks. I used to be in a ward that carried a prominent area name. Families would get moved in that were not in the boundaries.
There are times when that may be appropriate - if you know they will be attending the area singles/student/language ward. Otherwise, I say let the pros do it.
