High Priest secretary

#1

Post by guynewton »

At the request of the High Priest group leader, I am trying to put an individual in as high priest group secretary. The individual is @55 years old but is still a teacher. The problem I'm having is LCR will not let me place him in this calling because of him not being a High Priest yet. If he is not listed as a "standard calling", then he will not have access to LCR for inputting HT stats etc.,. Looking for help and wisdom, please.

Tell HPGL to read Handbook 2: 7.3.3. He must be a high priest. As a teacher, I'm not sure as he can even be an assistant secretary.

Same Handbook location. Prospective elders may be called to serve as assistant secretaries. He qualifies.

The question is whether or not an assistant secretary can see and work with home teaching. I do not believe I have seen a definitive answer on that one.

If you have the permissions in the new LDS online system then you can check to see if that person's name shows up when selecting "add person" for the HP assistant secretary's section. I was able to add a brother as HP assistant secretary that is an Elder because his name was available on the "add person" drop down list. The same person's name was not available for adding to the HP secretary position because of the church's requirement that only an ordained High Priest is allowed for that position. If the name is not available on the add drop down list then a teacher cannot be added, even if an older person.

Continued: The HP assistant secretary slot is able to see and manage the home teaching. The real question is can a teacher / ordained person be added as HP assistant secretary.
