If a missionary is traveling home on the 1st of a month, will they bill his account for the monthly amount?

He left on the 29th and paid that month, it would seem a bit off to charge him for the day he traveled home from South America.

How many payments were made for the whole mission? If this is the 24th payment, then that's to be expected.

Did he extend at all? I think there's been other posts that indicate that if he extended beyond 2 weeks, it probably triggered another payment.

The ward will get charged for 24 months unless the missionary stays significantly longer than 24 months (I think the cut off is at least 3 weeks--perhaps longer). So if he left on (for instance) January 29th, the ward would get charged at the beginning of January. There would then be 23 more monthly charges and the last charge would be in December. It doesn't matter if he comes home January 15th, January 29th, Feburary 1st, or even February 14th, the charge schedule is the same. If for some reason his mission is extended until the end of February then there would be an additional charge in January. Because of transfer schedules, it is common for missionaries to come home anywhere from 2 weeks early to 2 weeks late.
