I searched for this but could not find the answer I seek.

I'm wanting to know if there is a way to find out and print how many baptisms were done in a certain year (say 2014), just not sure how to do it.

All you could do is a custom MLS report of baptisms for members who are in the ward/stake. You will have no record of anyone who has moved out and I don't think you can exclude members who have moved in. As such, I think the report would be questionable in it's accuracy and usefulness. I think you'd be better off hunting down some historical reports.

Many stakes / wards probably do this very thing each year for their "comprehensive" yearly history. With the appropriate permissions in MLS, make a custom report (until they take MLS away from us!) by using the criteria below, and using the example date period for the year 2014:

Criteria

• Confirmation date <is After> (December 31 2013) and
• confirmation date <is before> (Jan. 1st, 2015)

Format (columns)

• Preferred name
• Confirmation date
• Move in date
• is convert
• (ward, age, etc)

You cannot search by baptism date, only by confirmation date. The "is convert" can be used as a flag to help you separate convert baptisms from "member of record" baptisms. Note: custom reports can be finicky, so if it gives unexpected results, modify (simplify) your criteria.

As russellhltn said, you will not be able to captured those who moved out, and you will have to manually match the report column for "confirmation date" with the "move-in date" to catch any that were baptized elsewhere during that period, and moved into your ward after their baptism.
