How do Bishop's prove who they are? My Bishop needs credentials to visit a member in prison.

When a bishop is ordained or set apart, he received a certificate from the Office of the First Presidency, usually fairly quickly after he becomes bishop.

In the meantime, some local officials will be willing to accept an Elder or High Priest ordination certificate. If more than that is needed, sometimes a letter from the stake president will assist. It all depends on what the local prison authorities and local law require.

Our prison also accepts letters from the Stake President on his letter head.
