Phone numbers

Post by jirp »

Because of a recent near disaster my bishop has decided to put together an emergency planning notebook for each of the Aux presidents. One of the things to be in this was ward list for contact information. The problem I found yesterday though is I can't find any way to get the personal phone numbers to print. We have a number of households with a land line and each spouse having a personal cell phone besides.

So is there a way either in MLS or online to print a list with a all the phone numbers with it?

You can use the Member List in Clerk Resources (turn off the age). That includes phone numbers and email addresses and gives preference to personal numbers on the phone number list.

That will help because I can paste it into a spread sheet to edit for personal numbers.

But be aware if you print that screen you can't turn the ages off. They disappear on the screen but if you print the screen in either Internet Explorer or Firefox the age column is still there even though it is off on the screen. Same thing if you copy and paste the screen without ages. They show back up in the pasted version.

It would be nice if there was a clean way to print phone numbers by household or by name that included both the household number and the personal number.

An MLS custom report would certainly let you create such a clean report.

Personal phone number are NOT an option in custom reports. They should be but they are not. That was my very first thought when I couldn't find a way to do it in the main reports.

I'm not sure why you think that. I've created many custom reports with both household and individual phone numbers. I wonder if you're confusing what is possible to choose for Criteria (a fairly small list) with what can be selected on the Format screen (a much longer list). It's true that the Individual Phone Number can't be used as one of the Criteria, but that doesn't really matter for this purpose.

On the Format screen, you can choose "Household Phone Number" and "Individual Phone Number" to get the results you're looking for.

For the criteria, you might want something like:
Household Position -- is -- Head of Household
or Household Position -- is -- Spouse

Or perhaps you want to include the youth:
Age -- is or is greater than -- 12
