Hi,
One of our bishopric members can not remember his password anymore. I asked the stake clerk to help to solve this but he told me to contact the GSC. I am busy already to try to connect them for one week and now I give up. Can any tell me what to do.

Thanks in advance,
PGM44

Password to what? If to MLS, any MLS admin can assign a new password. If you're talking about LDS Account, got to the recover option found at ldsaccount.lds.org.

OK, thanks.
It was for MLS.
Sorry I forgot to write that.

Any other MLS administrator can log into MLS, call up the user, and allow him to enter a new password.

I am not sure when the change came in but you now need two people to authorise changes to passwords belonging to the Bishopric or Stake Presidency, one of which has to be a member of the Bishopric or Presidency. A member of the Bishopric or Presidency can change their own if they are logged in but if they have forgotten their password it needs authorising in the same way that donations are authorised.

I am not sure if this extends to clerks and exec secs.

It doesn't apply to assistant clerks or other users as they can be changed by one user with admin rights.

I think this scenario changed back with MLS 3.6.1. The explanation is in the release notes on RKAT.

I remember reading about it now. It is a protection that would apply to the password of those who are able to authorize an actual expenditure of funds through MLS.

We do not see this in the U.S. because we cannot authorize actual electronic funds transfers through MLS as you are able to do in some other countries. We can merely write checks.

This changed in MLS 3.6.0. The restriction applies to anyone with the authorization rights for finances. So it takes two users to make a password change for a clerk, since the clerk has finance access. This would also apply to an assistant clerk with finance access.

So basically where would we need to click and what do we need to do to change the password?

Log in to MLS, go to System Options, then Users, then find your username; open it up, type in a new password, and save. I don't remember if any MLS user can see the Users – the clerk himself may have to be logged in to see Users in System Options.
