Editing CDOL items

I was tasked with "designating a Church Service Missionary" contact person in the Church Directory of Leaders so that they can have access to the new online system when it becomes available. I've searched all over to find out how to do that exactly. The CDOL PDF of FAQs seems outdated, at least my screen shots don't look like the ones used in the instruction manual. Any insight would be appreciated!

Most callings are entered by entering the calling in MLS. By in large, CDOL is not directly editable.

I doubt my adding a custom calling to MLS entitled "Church Service Missionary Contact Person" would result in that person's info being in CDOL; nor would it grant him access to the "new online system". Have you heard of this new system or have any insight on how the contact person would be granted rights to access it? It's all new to me...

Same here. You can look in MLS, as well as ask what the calling should be.

What kind of missionary is this? The only one I know about is for FamilySearch. I would imagine that's done through a different process, not just a calling.

My understanding is the church is re-doing (creating from scratch?) a new online system for stakes to enter in Church Service Missionary applications. The email I received about it says:

In preparation for the CSM assignment process this year (which is happening more slowly because of a change to the online system) please ensure that you [Stake Presidents] have designated a CSM contact person and have placed that person's name in CDOL. That way they will be able to access the new online system when it becomes available.

That's all I know and I'm at a loss of how to "place that person's name in CDOL" and why doing that, if it's even possible, would somehow grant that person access to the new online system anyway.

I hesitate to bother the person who sent the email with clarification if anyone on the forum can offer insight first. Thanks!

This sounds like a situation where the best course of action is to ask the sender of the e-mail what standard position in MLS should be used. Without them providing clarification, any position you assign them to is going to be a guess. I suspect, however, the position does not currently exist in MLS. Entering the person into a custom position will not grant them access to any sites. You could do that and wait for the position to be included in an update to MLS and then do a custom positions review to switch from the custom position to the standard position.

I haven't heard anything about this position. I have asked one person that I have worked with on some CSM stuff if they know anything. So at this point I think you will need more clarification from the email sender.
