Speaking of Open Office (especially on Win 7 machines)

Found the following in an open office forum:
Checking for Updates has never been robust and with the recent Win 7 update (which installed IE9) we recommend you turn it off in the / Tools / Options settings. This prevents unexplained crashes of OpenOffice. The next update of OOo to 3.4 is not realistically expected before early 2012, as OOo code is in transition to Apache and there are many little difficulties manifesting themselves.
