I'll answer your questions in reverse order.
Clearly it does.simonawright wrote:Does Skype come under the heading of software not provided by the church?
Since it is software not provided by the Church, installing it requires approval of the stake president and the stake technology specialist. As always, care should be exercised in any screen sharing or file transferring. But with proper approval and security measures, I don't see any reason Skype could not be used.simonawright wrote:Is it Ok to run Skype on the church MLS computers?

Re: Using Skype on church PCs
I agree with the aebrown, but the question becomes what are you planning to use SKYPE for?
PVC will allow the bishop or executive secretary to have a meeting with a member, or they can talk to the stake presidency or high councilman.
If it for personal calls, then Skype is the way to go, otherwise, I think PVC should be used for Church business.

Ward and stake computers are not for personal use, except to use family history programs. See Handbook 2, 21.1.11. That would make the installation of Skype for personal calls inappropriate.harddrive wrote:If it for personal calls, then Skype is the way to go...
