Is this a new setup, or has this been working and just now quit?

Re: network connected but cannot find host
What most people mean by "online" is being connected to the Internet. Being connected to the network is a prerequisite to being connected to the Internet, but it is certainly possible to be connected to the network, but not to the Internet.
Your Stake Technology Specialist can help you troubleshoot the problem. Certainly it would be interesting to know if other computers in the building can connect to the Internet. The problem may very well be with the ISP modem (probably cable or DSL) or with the ISP's lines coming into the building or the ISP's service.

I'm the "Ward Clerk" who had the problem. We've had this problem before. We have both an Ethernet connection and a wireless connection. Where we the office is in the building, we don't pick up the wireless signal very well, which explains the Ethernet cable connection. To my knowledge, we don't have a Stake Technology Specialist. The last one we had moved away.

It's certainly good to have a wired connection to the clerk computer, if possible. It eliminates one whole set of variables in making sure you're connected.vbvoice wrote:Where the office is in the building, we don't pick up the wireless signal very well, which explains the Ethernet cable connection.
Well, there is certainly someone who is still responsible. If there is no assistant stake clerk assigned to oversee technology issues, then the stake clerk has that responsibility. I'd recommend that you start with him to get some local support.vbvoice wrote:To my knowledge, we don't have a Stake Technology Specialist. The last one we had moved away.
