A sister's Membership # not associated with Ward?

A sister in my ward is not able to log on to LDS.org and use the tools there...the LDS help desk told her to call her ward clerk and have me fix her membership # so it would be associated with our ward.

Her Member record is in our ward in MLS and looks like this 000-0113-**** (I blocked out the last 4 for privacy.) Her husband used to be in our ward, but then he had his name removed from the records of the church.

How do I fix her problem?

If the membership number starts with your unit number, then it's a temporary number. You don't really have her records.

Can you check and see if she's a "out of unit member"?

If all that looks normal, then I'd suggest calling Local Unit Support.

If you have her records, then her membership # is associated with your ward (unless it's an out-of-unit record, but given the history you described, that seems quite unlikely). The membership record number you gave clearly is not a temporary membership record number.

What you described doesn't sound quite right. No one can login in to lds.org unless they have an LDS Account. Are you saying:
  1. She doesn't have an LDS Account, but is having problems trying to obtain one at ldsaccount.lds.org?
  2. She has an LDS Account, but can't login to lds.org? or
  3. She has an LDS Account and can login to lds.org, but she sees membership and calendar information for some other ward?
These three scenarios all have different solutions, so please help us understand what is really happening.

I'll add a couple more - she has a LDS Account but it's not tied to her membership record, so her login is considered a "non-member".

And - she's can log in, but is not seeing a tool that she thinks should be there. That may be more of a expectation issue, but I thought I'd throw that one on the list.

Clarification

I talked to the sister again. She says she logged into lds.org just fine, but when she went to TOOLS:DIRECTORY it said "Loading" but then never actually loaded.

She called the Help Desk and they looked up her Member # and were surprised to see that it was blank where it should have said our Ward's name.'

Should I just re-request her household's records back into our ward (which would be weird because they're already in our ward)?

You could try a MLS refresh. Beyond that, I'd call local unit support to see what they want you to do,

An MLS refresh won't do anything. That just sends down to MLS the information that is on Church records at CHQ. But in this case, the problem is with the record at CHQ.

I'm wondering if the church recorded a move-out that MLS didn't process. A refresh is my default suggestion before calling for help. I don't think it would hurt, and if it helps - great.

briankorale: Have you verified that you can see this sister's record when you visit http://lds.org/leader and use the Member Lookup feature? I have never experienced the problem of having a record show in MLS but not in the Leader Portal. I have had the opposite problem, where a member shows in the Leader Portal but not in MLS, so I speculate that the reverse problem (member in MLS but not in Leader Portal) is possible.
