How to Correct Marriage Information

#1

Post by gdeantaylor »

We have a member whose record shows that she is married to her father-in-law. She is married to his son not her father-in-law. The father-in-law is a member, but his son to whom his daughter-in-law is actually married is not a member. None are active in the Church. A membership clerk in our stake contacted me seeking help on the best way to handle the situation. I have searched the forum, but have not found anything that directly addresses this situation. Any advice about where to find the procedure to fix this situation would be very appreciated.

I would contact support. Any effort on your part to correct the marriage would result in a false divorce in the history.

Check either in LCR or MLS for "Special Request". It will allow you to send a note to SLC along with a link to the membership record in question.

Edit: Just to make sure, you actually see the link in her membership record? If it's just a case that she's in the same "household" that's a completely different story. You can make any changes needed to the household.
Have you searched the Help Center? Try doing a Google search and adding "site:churchofjesuschrist.org/help" to the search criteria.

So we can better help you, please edit your Profile to include your general location.

LCR does not support Special Requests. That's only available in MLS.

But other options include email (probably not a good idea since sensitive information may be involved) or phone using the contact information in the Help Center.
