Non-member husband not living in home

#1

Post by zaneclark »

We have a newly baptized sister who has been separated from her husband for several years but not divorced. He does not live in with her so I tried to delete him but could not. There seems to be conflicting definitions. In one place it states:
Family Definition: For Church record-keeping purposes, a member’s family consists of the member's parents, the present spouse (if any), and any children. These family members may or may not be a part of the member’s current household (see Household tab for definition).
And in another: Household Definition: For Church record-keeping purposes, a household is a grouping of membership records for individual Church members living at the same address>

He does not live at the same address, so how can I delete him? She is unhappy as his name appears first in LDS Tools....

You'll need to contact support and have them "suppress" the record. The information is coming from the marriage record of the member. But it should remain on there until the divorce is final.
Have you searched the Help Center? Try doing a Google search and adding "site:churchofjesuschrist.org/help" to the search criteria.

So we can better help you, please edit your Profile to include your general location.

Do we "have" to keep the husband information on there ? He is not a member and as they are separated, he does not even know she is baptized. The member does not want to show his information on her record. It was put in when the baptism record was created but we could have left it off.

If she is currently married, the marriage should be recorded. If they are separated, you can contact the Global Service Center and ask that the husband be suppressed from the record. If a divorce is finalized, record the divorce at that time.
