Changing child to grandchild
I can't figure out how to change a listed child to grandchild status. The child does not live in the ward, but the mother would like the record to reflect that she is grandchild, not a child.

Re: Changing child to grandchild
Does the child have their own record or is he or she just listed in the family section of the grandmother's record? Is the mother a member?
If the child has a record and shows up on the grandmother's family section then the child's record needs to be edited to correct the link or information about his or her mother. This would have to be done by the clerk of the ward where the child lives. This will remove the child from the family section of the grandmother. If the mother is a member it will add the child to his or her mother's record.
If the child does not have a record but the mother is a member then the mother's record may need to be edited to add the child. This would have to be done by the ward where the mother lives.
And regardless of whether the mother is a member If the child does not have a record, then the child needs to be deleted from the grandmother's record. There is no way to record a grandchild on the grandparent's record--only parent/child relationship are recorded.
Finally, if the child shows up on the household tab of the grandmother then it means the child has a record and that record is in your ward. In that case the child's record needs to be moved to the ward where they live.

Re: Changing child to grandchild
Membership records only reflect one generation (parent or child). It does not show any information beyond that. Grandma doesn't get to see any grandchildren on her IOS.zaneclark wrote:I can't figure out how to change a listed child to grandchild status. If the child is not in the ward, then their records shouldn't be in the ward.
