Stake Reorganized: How to get the new Bishop's record

#1

Post by jtyewhit »

Our Stake reorganized yesterday. Four new wards were formed. Because the boundaries changed, we need to get the record of the new Bishop into his new ward so that we can assign him the calling of Bishop. As the Stake clerk, I can't move records around. The new ward doesn't have a ward clerk yet.

Any suggestions on how to move the record for the new BIshop into his new Ward so that he can assign a ward clerk, etc.? Right now it feels like a chicken and egg problem because we need a clerk to pull the Bishop's record over, but we need to Bishop's record pulled over first so he can assign the ward clerk role to somone.

The old ward should be able to use some kind of boundary realignment tool to do a mass move of records. Do NOT do a standard move - that wipes addresses and some contact info. A boundary realignment preserves all that.

The Help Center indicates there's a "Move Records after Boundary Realignment tool in LCR."

I'd also read the Procedures for a Discontinued Ward: Instructions for Ward and Stake Clerks.

Also for the new wards you will have to send back to HQ the paperwork to let them know that the proposal was implemented. They will then activate the new wards. As part of that they will add the bishop in. You won't be able to move members into those units until that happens.

It worked out that one of our prior ward clerks ended up in the same ward boundary as the new Bishop. Since we had not removed his calling yet we were able to have him move the record :-)
