Changing the records; releasing a bishop and adding a new bishop

#1

Post by Rookieroberts »

We reorganized our Stake yesterday. I, along with the other clerks and bishops, were able to update all of the new callings and get them into the record as being set apart. However, I couldn’t release a Bishop in the records and make the record for the new incoming bishop for one of the wards. Any help someone could give would be greatly appreciated!!!

The stake president needs to let Church headquarters know that the new bishop has been sustained and set apart before you will be able to update the calling in LCR. This allows them to check to make sure the calling was approved by the First Presidency and Quorum of the Twelve.

Last time I did this was in MLS. I am pretty sure that you would do it in LCR now. As stake clerk, look for a Leadership Change link where you can report the date ordained/sustained and by whom for the new bishop. When the new bishop information is in place and verified by Hq, the new name will replace the released bishop automatically in the system.

As the stake clerk you should be able to make those changes in LCR. If the new bishop's membership records aren't in the ward that might be part of the problem

I'm not sure, but you may not be able to record a new bishop until/unless their high priest ordination is recorded. I think the ordination to bishop is handled with the recording of the calling, but I don't know as the same can be said for HP.
