Names of Nonmember Spouses on Lists

Some nonmember spouses' names appear on the Households tab of the Member List in LCR but not on the LDS.org Directory; and vice versa. I have been unable to discover any rhyme or reason for this discrepancy.

The names for non-member spouses have to come from the marriage record of the member spouse. In the case of LDS.org directory, that record can be "suppressed" (and presumably "unsuppressed"), but you have to contact local unit support to have it done.

As for the Household tab of the member list in LCR, I have no idea.

I entered the nonmember spouse data on the member's record in LCR. Suppression of the nonmember spouse's name on LDS.org directory was not an option when I saved the data. So I do not understand how and when such data was suppressed.

It's not under local unit control. If it's not how the member desires it, the clerk has to contact CHQ. Clunky, to say that least, but that's how it works. As for the initial state - I get the sense that it's not consistent.

The only official acknowledgement I know of for this "feature" is the Directory FAQs.

The issue arose immediately after I entered the nonmember spouse data into blank fields. So the member has not had the opportunity to express his/her desire.

Understood. While I have not experienced this myself, from other posts, I've not gotten any sense of what the rules are for the initial setting. It may be random.

But bottom line, if it's not how you or the member wants it, you have to contact Local Unit Support. That setting is not under your control. (Unless something has changed recently.)
