Code to have new bishop call old bishop

My bishop asked that I put a code on a membership record to have the new bishop contact him (a college student is going back to school soon).

The only way I know to do this is that when we move the record out, to check the box asking the new bishop to contact him. However, that doesn't involve a 'code' per se. Is there something I may be missing here? I thought about the possibility of a move restriction, but I don't think that's what he has in mind.

Thanks in advance!

I haven't heard of any new options. One option is if there is a formal probation, then the record may be annotated. Any annotation goes with the record. (However, it's rather easy to miss, IMO. It's dependent on the new ward being aware and looking for it.)

I think he's thinking of the move-out option, but doesn't realize that it only works when you move the record out.

I think your only other option is to keep an eye out and note when/where the record moves and have your bishop contact the new bishop.

russellhltn is correct that the only "code" is the flag that can be set when moving the record out. That only works if your ward sends the record and the other ward looks at MLS report printed when the record arrives. If they move the record or don't see the message on the MLS report, that is the end of it. If it is a student ward moving in a bunch of the records at the beginning of the semester, odds are pretty high that they won't see the message.

The best solution is to watch for the record to move and then give the new bishop's contact information to your bishop so that he can initiate the call.

How would you find out which ward fetched the record?

It will be on the move-out report.

Leader and Clerk Resources > Reports > Members Moved Out. The fourth column shows the ward they moved to, with a link for ward contact information.
