Keeping a missionary's record when family moves away

A family in my ward moved to Saudi Arabia. They have a daughter that is leaving on a mission in a few weeks. They want to keep their daughter's record in our ward while she is on her mission so they can pay for her mission through our ward. They are saying that other members in Saudi Arabia have told them that is the best way to handle it. Has anyone done anything like this before?

I don't have any experience with that kind of situation but financial responsibility and membership record location are two different things. It is quite possible to transfer the membership record with the family but retain financial responsibility and have the family pay through your ward.

+1 Not only are they different things, they don't "move together". By default, when the family movies (with daughter), the financial responsibility will stay where it is. It's a separate action to get financial responsibility to move.

I suppose the other question is where will the daughter return to after her mission? I would have the membership record where she's expected to be - within reason. If she's going to "return to BYU", it's going to be hard to predict which ward that would be.
