Husband and wife in separate wards

I have friends who are married. He is a YSA branch president. They have 4 children so she takes the children to their home ward. Isn't it against church policy to split a family up every Sunday? They don't even go to the same building.

No. It is part of the sacrifice certain Church leaders make as they serve. Stake presidencies and high councilors do not attend their home wards very often. An Area Seventy almost never does. It is the same for General Authorities.

This is also one of the reasons that men in these callings, except for General Authorities, serve for a limited amount of time and then are released. And it's not just the men. Your stake Relief Society, Young Women, and Primary presidencies miss a lot of their home ward meetings and have husbands who take care of the children as needed.

Hopefully, priesthood leaders are very careful about the demands that are placed on parents who serve in some of these challenging callings. They have interviewed properly, the wife supports her husband in these callings, and they are released when the time is right. A lot of inspiration and revelation is involved, as well.

And a good bishop carefully watches over these families with the help of capable home and visiting teachers so that they are able to serve for a time and help to build up the Kingdom. Done right, sacrifice does bring forth the blessings of heaven.
