Correlation of MLS and LCR

#1

Post by charlesnelson »

Information entered on MLS does not transfer to LCR and vice versa. I cannot enter ordinances on LCR and cannot enter callings on MLS. A convert baptism recorded by the mission shows on LCR but not on MLS. Ordinances recorded on MLS do not show on LCR.

Did you do a Send/Receive? [grin]

All kidding aside, MLS is moving to LCR, and much if it is there already. In the meantime:

It is true that you cannot yet enter ordinances on LCR. You enter that information in MLS for now.
And you cannot enter callings in MLS. You enter them in LCR, and they flow back to MLS.

A convert baptism is recorded by the mission. If it shows on LCR but not yet on MLS, it has not flowed back. Either the record is too new, or there has not yet been a Send/Receive in MLS. And sometimes MLS gets out of sync. Membership Refresh was designed to solve that problem.

And finally, ordinances of baptism, confirmation, and priesthood ordination recorded do show on LCR after the Send/Receive and after the computers have spoken overnight.

So, if any of this is not happening, ask your stake clerk and Local Unit Support to help you sort out why. Yes, during the transition it is sometimes a pain to remember whether you need to do something in LCR of MLS. But that will change as all of the membership functions move to LCR.

Fortunately most if not all the things that LCR shows are shown real time for the data that is at CHQ. The main things that are overnight are data flowing from MLS/LCR to some other systems (depending on how those other systems get the data on the backend). The most common example is the permissions data, after a calling has been entered you have to wait until the next time the data is pushed around.

There is a really great explanation Ryan gave on this board a few years back that explained the backend relationships that I can't seem to find. IIR CDOL was the recordkeeper of callings. If you update in LCR and it isn't in CDOL then it won't transfer to MLS. So first thing to check is always CDOL (at least for callings).

And now with LCR being the source for entering callings that helps things. LCR doesn't store the calling, but instead it just looks at and updates CDOL.
