Death of a Child of Record and Invisible Children

Post by thunder9010 »

Hello and thanks in advance for your help,

I have a couple of problems.

1. There is a part-member family with two children. Those children aren't showing up on the LDS Tools Mobile App at all. They also do not show up in MLS either. They're not 8 years old yet and so obviously they aren't technically members -- but the same is true of my own children and they show up in LDS Tools just fine. This family's kids do show up on LCR under family members under their mom's record, so clearly they exist within the system. Why are they not showing up in MLS, LDS Tools or on the directory on lds.org??

2. Same family used to have three children. Tragically, their baby boy died. Apparently, recording the death of a member is still done in MLS, but when I tried to go through the required steps, none of the kids (living or dead) show up in MLS. So in the one place where the kids do show up -- the , it lists all three kids instead of two.

While they may appear there, that doesn't mean a record was ever created for them. And even if a record was created, it doesn't mean it's in the ward - or that they are still living. It is strictly genealogical information.

Without a record in the ward, they will not appear in MLS as an individual record, nor will they show up in the family under LDS Tools or the Directory. They will only appear on the parent's record.

You can try and request the record and see what happens. You might get lucky. Otherwise, you'll need to have it created. However, see Handbook 1: 13.6.2 for necessary permissions to do so. (Perhaps no permission was given in the first place - which might explain how you ended up in the current situation.)
