Standard Callings (14 Sep 2015)

There have been a lot of changes since the last time I've seen a list of the standard callings/positions, including the update to Leader and Clerk Resources that allows callings to be entered online, the addition of sub-organizations for callings, etc.

Attached is the latest list, to the best of my understanding, as of 14 Sep 2015. Also in the document is a brief summary of what "standard positions" and "custom positions" are and why they're important.

Note that although the file is called "LCR Standard Callings," positions are actually stored in CDOL – so standard positions aren't tied to the LCR release schedule, but are updated separately.

Sigh. Still no ward bulletin editor. The reason this is needed as a standard calling is so the stake council knows whom to contact in each unit. As it is, we have to maintain and forward lists of bulletin editors around the stake.

I don't understand. Why can't each ward create a custom position with the same name? Custom positions show up in the directory on lds.org and are visible to all members of the stake (unless the person has their visibility settings set to ward or leader only--but that would still be an issue still if there were a standard position). A standard position might be nice to help ensure consistency but it doesn't seem like it's lack is a real barrier.

Without a standard calling, there is no consistency in the name of the calling.

In my stake, 7 of the 11 units use 7 different calling names, and the other 4 units don't use any:
Branch Bulletin Editor
Ward Bulliten Specialist
Ward Bulletin Specialist
Bulletin Board Specialist (?)
Sacrament Program Bulletin
Ward Bulletin
Bulletin Specialist

Understand your concern drepouille, but a gentle (or not so gentle) arm twist from the assigned High Counselor to each unit could quickly make them all the same. If that doesn't work, it would be a simple matter for the Stake President to address with the Bishops. No, he should not have to do that, but the fact of the matter is, he may have to.

When I was ward clerk, we sometimes had to arrange things the way the Stake wanted them arranged just so all wards were the same. It was not optional and we worked through it OK.

Does anyone know what the difference between these two are:

Added: CS Missionary Specialist
Added: Stake CS Missionary

And is there a link to a description of each?

Mahalo!

I'm not sure, but I imagine the stake Church Service (CS) Missionary Specialist would help get the word out about service missionary opportunities, encourage members in the stake to serve, and help prospective service missionaries through the process.

Thanks, that makes sense!
