New Member not showing up in MLS

We had a convert baptism a couple weeks ago. The new member record shows up in our directory on the church website and I can do limited edits there, but the record will not down load to MLS. I've tried send/receive several times but the record just will not down load to MLS. Any suggestions as to what might be the problem?

In MLS, do a Unit data refresh.

Having the same problem with some new member records, but not all; also with some records that have been transfered into the unit. Everything is fine when viewed in LCR, I will even get the notification in MLS that a record has been transfered. However when you go to view it in MLS the name is not found. Even stranger is in the case of a family that was recently baptized; both parents records are fine, but their family members will only appear when viewing the parents records, including their member record number , but not individually. When I click the name on through the parents record I will get part of a screen showing some information; it's shaded and I cannot access it any further. I have tried unit data refresh that seldom corrects it. I found one method of comparing callings and correcting duplicates, and then using unit data refresh. That used to work most of the time until newer versions of MLS did not allow changes in callings. Two of my stake tech specialists have looked at it. One suggested data corruption as a possible culprit, but could not fix it. Any suggestions?

If a unit data refresh doesn't fix it then there may be data corruption. You can try creating a backup, uninstalling MLS, reinstalling and restoring from the backup. You may want to do this during the week just in case you need to call to get a security reset. If that doesn't work then you should contact Local Unit Support. They should be able to pull a backup and take a look at it.

Were the children baptized as well or were they under 8? If they were under 8 then the mission office didn't create records for them. With the parents' permission you'll need to do that.

The information on the parents records doesn't necessarily indicate that a record was created for them. It just means that the parent's record has genealogical information about their children.

Thank you for the quick response. 5 children. 3 were baptized. Each of the 3 has a member record number. As for reinstalling MLS, the first tech did that about a year and a half ago. I don't know what version was being used at the time. They never really knew what the problem was, but it resurfaced shortly after. The next tech told me about the method of comparing callings and then manipulating them with data refresh. That was very time consuming but worked until a few months back when that function was no longer available on MLS. I will share your suggestions with him an see what happens. Thank you very much.

The 3 children should have individual records. But (with permission) you should probably create a child-of-record for the other 2. Otherwise they won't show up on any class rolls, directory, etc. And once they reach the age of 8, you can't add them until they are baptized.

If you don't have individual records for all the baptisms, check with the mission.
