Mother name missing
We have a record of child who does not have his mother's name - it is blank. His father said he'd prefer to leave it blank if that is possible. If not, he'll give me the name. Is a mother's name required? (he is the child of a previous marriage)

Re: Mother name missing
We have a few members who do not have both parents listed. In some cases, there are very personal reasons and a few legal reasons for not listing a parent. Our ward decided to respect the wishes of each member. So, some of our members are missing a parent.
Even if they get flagged during the membership audit, we leave them blank. I don't recall what we did to the audit report regarding these flagged records but it was something to the effect of approving as-is or ignoring this situation for those records.

A membership record will normally show the names of the parents who are on the birth certificate.
