Baptism and confirmation record

#1

Post by donnste »

I have a member in my ward that has lost her baptism certificate. She is a convert to the church, and wants me to find the information on who baptized and confirmed her. The ordinance was performed in 1988 but I don't know how to find out who performed the ordnance. Any ideas??

You can try and call Local Unit Support. Perhaps the historical section would have that. But as far as I know, that information is no longer recorded in the membership record. MLS has those fields to support printing certificates, but the information is lost when the record moves out of the ward. That information may be of personal interest, but it serves no record-keeping purpose.

Back then, there was actually some paper recordkeeping. So if she can furnish the name of the ward and stake where she was baptized, it might be helpful in the search.
