While performing searches on FamilySearch, I saw several search hits from "United States Public Records". While not very useful for genealogy purposes, I think this could be very useful to clerks trying to find missing members. I have searched for living friends, and have found useful information about their close relatives, as well as their previous and current addresses.

If I were a ward clerk, I would consider using FamilySearch to look for missing members. It could be just one more tool in your box of tricks. I see that this is mentioned in the Wiki:

Ancestry.com offers a U.S. Public Records Index that compiles various public records from all 50 states in the United States from 1984 to the present. Entries may contain the following information: name, street or mailing address, telephone number, birth date or birth year.
