Out-of-unit member information

Out-of-unit member information

We have many out-of-unit members serving in callings in our YSA stake, including our bishoprics and stake leaders. I'm near BYU, so there are a lot of YSA stakes in the area in a similar situation. One thing that has caused a lot of frustration is the fact stake and ward leaders in the YSA stake can't update basic membership information for the out-of-unit members...

Specifically, I would like to be able to update the phone numbers, email addresses, and photos of out-of-unit leaders.

From what I understand, there are two ways for contact info and photos to be updated:
1) Contact each home ward clerk and have them update everything.
2) Have each out-of-unit member update their own info (and wait for the home ward clerk to approve the photo).

Besides the hassle of contacting each home ward clerk or out-of-unit member and working with their schedules, a lot of times they are not technically savvy and not familiar with the tools... In fact, sometimes the tools are seen as not very useful for the very fact that the contact info is all outdated, which is a cycle of the same problem.

Our stake and most of the wards resort to manually-created photo and contact directories because the info for leaders on online tools can't be trusted or isn't complete. The photos would be nice but are not the most important problem – what if a member really needs to contact his bishop but can't find his contact info?

Would it be possible for us to receive access in a future version of the online tools to edit (especially) contact information for out-of-unit members? Alternatively, could the directory pull from CDOL to update contact information for leaders?

Not an ideal solution, but members can update their own information on lds.org. You'd have to ask the member with information to do it themselves, but it may be easier than contacting their home ward.

That would work for the contact information, but the home ward still has to approve the photo.
Have you searched the Wiki?
Try using a Google search by adding "site:tech.lds.org/wiki" to the search criteria.

Also the only information members can update on LDS.ORG is Email and phone.
