Ward missionary fund

#1

Post by dombee »

Hello:

One of our members has a son who just left for the MTC. He heard that there has been a change in policy to where financial support for missionaries is sent directly to Salt lake and not through the Ward Missionary fund. That doesn't seem correct but wanted to put it out for comments. Tks.

I haven't heard of this. Are you in the USA or somewhere else?

We have a missionary who will be going into the MTC in July and his account has shown up in MLS. That seems to me like they are still planning on us using local deposits.

The only thing that I can think of would be if they be contributing via deposits in kind, then that part of their donations would be sent directly to Salt Lake. But even then the ward would get notice back of the amount.

The ward will be charged for it. Donations sent to CHQ would likely be placed in the General Missionary Fund. There is no way to support a missionary other than sending your funds to the unit that is financially responsible and having them add it to the fund. See this recent thread for more.
